New contracts prompt expansion at Tri-Star

NAHEIM, CALIF. (Dec. 18, 9:40 a.m.
EST) - Custom injection molder Tri-Star Plastics Inc. of Anaheim
this month is starting full production in a new manufacturing
cell and anticipates adding another cell during 2002.
Tri-Star
invested nearly $300,000 for equipment to mold, assemble and
package houseware and specialty packaging products under new
contracts, Eric Muller, president and 80 percent owner, said
in a telephone interview.
In assembling the cell, Tri-Star acquired
a 500-ton Toshiba injection molding machine, Yushin automation
system, case Automation custom-made safety guarding, a Labeltronix
labeling system and Dri-Air Industries drier and conveyor.
Separately,
Tri-Star quality-control department added a Mitutoyo Bright Apex
Computer Numerically controlled coordinate-measuring machine
in mid-2001 Ken Shultz joined the company as quality manager
in May.
Tri-Star was founded in 1974, employs 125 and occupies
45,000 square feet in three Anaheim Buildings. the firm operates
27 molding machines of 60-720 tops, mostly Toshibas. Its largest
markets are electronics, water quality and home construction.
